One day after Samsung launched its new foldable phones,Australia the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, Motorola is here to spoil the party — albeit only in China.
On Thursday, the company launched the Motorola Razr 2022, a new clamshell smartphone with significantly upgraded specs compared to its predecessor, the Motorola Razr 5G.
The new Razr now has a 6.7-inch inner, foldable OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, as well as an external, 2.7-inch cover OLED display, which places it ahead of Samsung's Z Flip 4 and its 1.9-inch outer display. It's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, and comes with 8/12GB of RAM, 128/256/512GB of storage, and Android 12, which is on par with Samsung's clamshell phone.
As far as imaging goes, Motorola Razr 2022 has a dual, 50/13-megapixel outer camera, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Again, this is ahead of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4's dual 12-megapixel outer camera and 10-megapixel selfie camera, but the differences on paper do not directly translate to real-world performance.

We know the prices in China, though. The Motorola Razr 2022 starts at CNY 5,999 ($890), and goes up to CNY 7,299 ($1083), depending on the configuration.
During the event, Motorola also launched the Motorola X30 Pro, a candy bar phone with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, a 200-megapixel main camera and super-fast, 125W wired charging. The phone starts at CNY 3,699 ($549) and is also available in China.
