How to change your Instagram username on Instagram mobile apps

The process for the Instagram mobile apps is very similar. In your Instagram app, head to your profile page and tap the "Edit Profile" option.

Again, simply overtype with your new monikers.

Then tap "Done" on iOS. On Android, hit the check mark.

What if the new username I want is taken?

If the username you want is already in use, Instagram will alert you to this after you click "Submit" or tap on "Done." Re-try different variations until you find a username that's close to the one you want.
