Sorry '90s kids, robert masters eroticized wound Sinbad has never starred as a genie in a movie called Shazam, despite what you think you recall.
That fact has not stopped multitudes on the internet from believing in this fictional movie. While traces of this invented film have popped up over the years, it's only in the last month that confused nostalgia for something that never existed has boiled over into a frenzy.

Writing for The New Statesmen, Amelia Tait laid out the very real confusion housed in certain parts of Reddit, wherein people with firm memories of a movie called Shazamstarring Sinbad have shared their stories and have tried to work out what it means that no evidence for it exists.
Some have taken to label it a Mandela Effect, wherein the facts appear to change for a population, while others cry conspiracy. The whole mix up has reminded people of the confusion earlier this year when it was 'revealed' that Berenstain Bearschildren's books were not spelled "Berenstein."
Many agree that people are merely confusing this movie with Kazaam, where Shaquille O'Neal played a genie.
The maelstrom has even drawn Sinbad himself into its wake and it looks like he's having quite a time with it.
He thought he solved it by revealing that in 1994, he hosted an afternoon of Sinbad movies wearing a turban.

Me to me: It was Sinbad in Shazaam, bitch! pic.twitter.com/V0BU3FaZbj
I am so perplexed by the fact that, apparently, Sinbad (@sinbadbad) did *NOT* do a genie movie in the mid 90s. Yes, I know Kazaam is not it

All while Sinbad continues to refute the claim.
Okay for all you people who think I did a genie movie.. well haven’t done one YET , but I am going to do one so we can close this chapter

Maybe Sinbad just wants to give the people what they want. Or maybe he wants them to stop bothering him on Twitter.
