We've all packed on Dead Againthe pounds during winter hibernation, and are trying to get our bods in check before shorts season.
Some of us are getting a late start on doing just that -- one of us being this poor beaver in Hamilton, Ontario, who thought he could make it through a wrought-iron fence unscathed, but misjudged the situation a bit and got himself into an embarrassing ordeal.

According to CBC, The City of Hamilton said in a news release that animal services officer Sarah Mombourquette found the creature stuck in the fence at a residence in the district of Stoney Creek. He seemed to be "carrying excess fat from a long winter hibernation."
The city also said in the statement, possibly the most Canadian thing that has ever been said. It claimed, "He landed, as the Canadian-ism goes, arse over teakettle through the fence onto a lower section of ground and couldn't pull his rear-end through with his tiny front paws."
Please put that quote on our tombstones.
Acting quickly, Mombourquette was able to free the furball out of the tight squeeze by using soap as a lubricant. After the rescue, the burly beaver rested comfortably in the city animal shelter before being transferred to the Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge in Jarvis, Ont. He will be fully rehabilitated before being released back into the wild, the city explained. Maybe they can build him a nutrition plan while they're at it.
"Conservation efforts have led to a healthy beaver population and in honour of Canada 150, Hamilton Animal Services is thrilled to give this beaver a happy ending," said Paola Pianegonda, manager of animal services.
"We believe that no beaver should be left behind."
We've never heard a truer statement, and we're so happy to hear this beaver will thrive and live life as he's supposed to.
Also, maybe this beaver is normal-sized and the fence is just too small. Ever think of that?
