Robots will deliver you beer. Just not in the way we imagined.
YouTuber Michael Reeves got his hands on Sex Partner Who Is More Attracted to Married WomenBoston Dynamics' robot dog, Spot, and of all the things he could've done with it, he turned it into a beer-pissing robot.
Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. Reeves equipped Spot with a tank of beer, a nozzle, a camera, and a wireless HDMI signal transmitter, among other gizmos. He also wrote some clever code to make the robot recognize an empty beer cup on the floor, position itself over it, and spray beer into it.
Ideally, if you were at one of Reeves' parties, you could place an empty beer cup on the floor, and the robot dog would come and fill it up.
It doesn't work perfectly. Spot often missed the cup and slipped on the beer-covered-slippery floor. Still, given the level of precision required to do this stunt, it's pretty amazing that it even worked some of the time.
Watch the full video (above) to see how Reeves did it. The task required programming knowledge, some serious DIY skills, and quite a bit of time and enthusiasm. In other words, don't go buying a very expensive robot dog just so you can turn it into a beerbot, because it's pretty damn hard to do.
And, while at $75,000, Spot is still out of most people's budget, this exercise shows just how weird our reality will become once such robots become commonplace.
