Although a complete network outage resulting in downtime is not unheard of, these issues are usually fixed quickly. That's why gamers were surprised to wake up on Saturday morning and find that PlayStation Network was still down.

In fact, the first reports about PSN being back up didn't start to trickle in until Saturday afternoon, roughly 15 hours later.

"Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue," PlayStation's support account posted on Sunday. "We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience."
