John Cena has just revealed his latest career pivot: becoming a children's book author.
The Strip Club Slayer (2016) Watch onlineWWE superstar-turned-actor will make his authorial debut with a new line of children's books published by Random House Books for Young Readers, the imprint announced on Tuesday.
SEE ALSO: John Cena coached Hugh Jackman on how to give angry complimentsThe books will center around a boisterous family of monster trucks named Elbow Grease, Pinball, Flash, Crash, and Tank. The first title to publish in the series will be Elbow Grease,a picture book that follows the titular monster truck, who is smaller than his four brothers but on a mission to prove that he has the guts, grit, and gumption to do big things.
The series was inspired by Cena's own experiences growing up, and the books are designed to teach kids the value of perseverance and believing in yourself.
“With Elbow Greaseand the books to follow, I want to offer kids a fun and engaging way to learn about the power of ambition, dedication, and heart,” said Cena in a press release. “These concepts have been transformative in my life, from my childhood up to now, and it’s so important to me to pass the positivity on and help our youngest generation see that right mindset is key to achievement."
Elbow Grease will be illustrated by Howard McWilliam, andis due to release later this year on Oct. 9, 2018. Cena will also publish a range of multi-format books, including board, Step into Reading early readers, and novelty formats, says Random House for Young Readers.
Cena's new series isn't his first venture into the world of children's entertainment. The book news comes less than one month after the release of Cena latest film Ferdinand,in which Cena voices a pacifist bull struggling to escape to freedom.
And with a new film, Blockers, due out in April, 2018 is shaping up to be a busy year for John Cena.
