Pixar is mating in captivity "a friendship without passion is no for eroticismno stranger to end-credits scenes. Early Pixar films like A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2 featured bloopers throughout their credits. Later, the animation studio pivoted to end-credit tags that pay off running gags from the movies, like the reveal of Riley's "deep, dark secret" in last year's Inside Out 2.
SEE ALSO: 'Elio' review: Pixar's cosmic tale of friendship will cure your lonelinessSo does Pixar's 2025 release Eliofollow in its predecessors' footsteps?
It does! If you stick through Elio's credits, you'll get a mid-credits scene that serves as a sweet button to the film, which centers on 11-year-old outcast Elio (voiced by Yonas Kibreab). Elio wants nothing more than to be abducted by aliens, and luckily for him, he gets his wish. He's whisked away to the Communiverse, an out-of-this-world gathering of alien ambassadors. The ambassadors would love Elio to join them, but there's a pretty big catch: They think he's the leader of Earth. Can he fool them long enough to secure his spot?
In addition to the mid-credits scene, Elio also features a quick end tag that teases Pixar's next release, Hoppers. So be sure to stick around until the very, very end of the credits! Between these scenes, you'll be treated to more gorgeous artwork of Elio's story and of the Communiverse, as well as the names of all the incredible artists who brought Elio to life. You'll also see a Pixar staple: the shout-outs to production babies, which are always a sweet touch.
Elio hits theaters June 20.
