The InSight Mars lander is scheduled to head to the red planet in May, but the end of the day Wednesday marks the deadline to get an official boarding pass. That means that even if youcan't get to Mars next year, your name can.

The launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California was supposed to happen in 2016, but was moved to 2018. So some people already have their "boarding passes" from signing up when the opportunity was first offered.
It's a fairly easy process to get a boarding pass: head to NASA's InSight website and fill out the form.
A tracker shows more than 2.3 million names already submitted.
